Electric/Hybrid Propulsion System (EHPS)– Progress and Roadmap to means of compliance definition

Electric/Hybrid Propulsion Systems (EHPS) are regarded as key enablers for a future CO2-neutral aviation. Such systems are making use of novel technologies combining them with traditional propulsion techniques in various ways.

The technological developments of the last years showed that the degree of hybridization will highly depend on the intended use of the aircraft, the selected fuel/power supply, suitable power storage solutions and the required safety objectives.
EASA is currently preparing for the development of Means of Compliance suitable to address a variety of possible EHPS architectures.

The previous webinar held in 2021 focused on the presentation of Special Condition SC-E19 and EASA’s overall strategy to certify EHPS.

The objective of this year’s webinar is to present to our external stakeholders (Airworthiness Authorities and Industry) the strategy and iterative process for the above-mentioned development of Means of Compliance.

We will also report on the progress made in key technical areas (e.g. LOPC and battery certification), and we will take the opportunity to share information about regulatory challenges encountered and harmonization efforts made with our BASA partner Authorities to support the safe entry of EHPS technology on the global market.
Furthermore, we will leave some time for exchanges and questions.

In order to ensure worldwide coverage, we have set-up 2 identical sessions (morning and afternoon). Your registration needs to be specific to the desired session (morning or afternoon).

We thank you in advance for your interest and we look forward to your participation.

During the webinar, we kindly ask you to use the Slido tool to submit your questions-Go to www.slido.com and enter the following code: #EHPS2023

The WebEx link to join the event will soon be provided to the registered participants.
